It’s time for UFC 298! The event is happening tonight in Anaheim, CA with Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilia Topuria fighting in the main event. However, before that fight happens we’ve got an intriguing match-up in the UFC’s welterweight division. The undefeated Ian Machado Garry is seeking to prove he’s a contender in the promotion tonight when he takes on Geoff Neal.

Ian Machado Garry vs. Geoff Neal live play-by-play

Round 1

Garry takes center cage. Neal circles on the outside, hops in to fire an inside leg kick. Garry answers with a front kick to the gut. Another calf kick lands for Neal. Garry stomps Neals knee with an oblique kick. Neal answers with an inside leg kick. Garry lands a body punch. Neal eats a head kick. Neal charges in behind a combo, lands with a left. Neal forces Garry into the cage. Garry reverses and pushes Neal into the cage. Neal spins and pushes Garry into the cage again.

Garry escapes but eats a shot on the exit. Garry lands a punch to the body, then a knee. Garry lands a knee to the gut. Lots of kicks from Garry, about 1 in 3 land. Close round, I’ll give it to Garry 10-9.

Round 2

Neal trying a variety of stances. Garry fires off a combo. Lands a body kick followed by a two punch combo. Neal shoots and forces Garry into the cage. Crowd getting restless. Garry spins free.

Garry fires a knee but eats a straight right to the face in exchange. Garry jabs. Knee, right-hand combo lands. Neal lands a right and drives into the clinch. Back to the cage. Garry spins free. Neal lands an uppercut. Neal fires off a 3 punch combo. Crowd restless again. Clash of heads.

Neal comes forward behind a sharp combo. Garry fires back. High kick from Neal. Neal lands a left. They clinch again. Garry backed into the fence. Another one for Garry. 10-9 and 20-18.

Round 3

They open up with sharp exchanges, Garry trading a body kick for a body punch. Garry lands a knee. Eats a left. Crowd boos. Neal forces Garry back and drives into the clinch. Garry breaks free. Peppering Neal with jabs. Big left from Neal. Garry lands a big knee up the middle. Another body kick under Neal’s arms.

Garry circling away as the crowd groans. Garry lands a jab. Dances away from Neal. Crowd boos. Garry dancing away. Neal forces another clinch. Thirty seconds left. Not a fun fight. The time runs out. Another round for Garry but not a treat for fans.
